Today, Columbus Middle School students were cheered on by elementary students and central office staff before they started their state tests.
Hunt Intermediate had a pep rally before testing starts tomorrow (Thursday).
The theme this year is "No Crumbs Left, We Ate That Test!"

CMSD 4th graders heard from author Max Brallier this morning! He is the best-selling author of the graphic novel series "The Last Kids on Earth."
The series is also on Netflix.
Brallier was in the area as part of his nationwide book tour.

The Columbus Municipal School District announces its Summer Feeding Program. Locations will be Columbus High, Hunt Intermediate, Cook Elementary, and Stokes-Beard Elementary. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 AM - 8:30 AM. Lunch will be served from 11 AM - 12 PM. The Summer Feeding Program begins on June 1st and ends on June 30th. All locations will be closed on June 19th.
The Summer Feeding Program is open to children under the age of 18 in the community.

Stokes-Beard Elementary students participated in a Child Abuse Prevention Month parade last week.

A reminder, the Welcome Home event for Coach Morgan has been postponed until May 16th.

Thank you to the members of the Air Force Sergeants Association Chapter 651 (from CAFB) for donating 850 books to Cook Elementary students. This afternoon, the organization presented the books to the school and read to the students. They even answered a few questions.
International Student Exchange presented Columbus High with a certificate and an award for welcoming students last year. CHS had two international students last school year and one this year.

Columbus High senior NiJayhia Capron took the Oath of Enlistment to join the Mississippi Air National Guard at a ceremony this morning at inside the CHS gym.
Capron says she was born to be a soldier and looks forward to serving our country. She is also a member of the CHS Air Force Junior ROTC program.

The "Keep Columbus Beautiful " committee members visited Fairview Elementary's 2nd-grade class today to celebrate "Earth Day." The book " Look out for Litter" was read by the committee members. Students also gave the group examples of ways to keep Columbus beautiful.

Friendly City Books and author Andre' A. Lewis, along with the City of Columbus, teamed up to give Hunt Intermediate students a book, "America the Beautiful," at an Earth Day celebration this morning.
City leaders were on hand to speak to the students and make sure everyone got a book.
Lewis is a former Hunt student and Columbus native.
