The Columbus Municipal School District Board of Trustees honored students for achievement at its meeting on May 11th.
Hunt Intermediate School students who participated in the Region V - Mississippi Science & Engineering Fair, the Get Ready to Run program, and the Presidential AI Challenge were recognized.
Columbus Middle School and Columbus High School thespian students were recognized for winning awards in the Secondary Performing Arts Festival, the Mississippi Junior Thespian Conference, and the Mississippi Thespian Conference.

CMSD Superintendent Dr. Craig Chapman attended today's groundbreaking ceremony for Parkview.
This will be a residential development next to the Roger Short Soccer Complex.
The City of Columbus and the Columbus Redevelopment Authority hosted the event.
CMSD played a role in the development because the 16-acre site sits on 16th Section land.

Stokes Beard Elementary recently collected goods for the victims of a recent apartment fire in East Columbus. Thank you to everyone that donated!

Due to predicted severe weather in the area, the Columbus Municipal School District will dismiss the elementary schools and Hunt Intermediate at 1:30 PM. Columbus Middle and Columbus High schools will dismiss at 2:30 PM today (May 6, 2026).

Stokes Beard is celebrating teachers in first-class style. This fun theme is helping the school celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week.
CMSD Superintendent Dr. Craig Chapman bought enough ice cream for every teacher in the school district. Today, he and other central office staff served teachers ice cream to say thank you for all they do in the classroom.
