Our city leaders have been so supportive and gracious with their time this week to help our students understand the importance of reading and showing them that reading is fun!
Here, Councilman Smith went back to his old elementary school, Cook Elementary, to read to students.

Who will Win!
Each week, students read books and take AR tests. On Friday of each week, several students' names are pulled from the collection of classroom tickets. Weekly winners earn prizes from the office store.
At the end of each month, five students' name will be drawn to win $10.00 each. The homeroom teacher of each student will win $10.00 as well. Teachers win each time their students win. There is no limit.

The Falcons fly into Mississippi Valley State University tonight to take on the Lanier Bulldogs in the 5A state basketball playoffs. The game tips at 8:30 PM. Wear Purple and cheer on the Falcons!

Sale Elementary School hosted its Black History Month program this morning in the school cafeteria.

This is National Public Schools Week! This week is recognized to highlight the important role public schools play in our communities, and how schools make them stronger through expanding opportunities and preparing students to succeed.

Congratulations to our SRO's! Assistant Chief Juvante Burks, Sr., Jesse Anderson, and Lexus Ware completed crisis intervention training at Community Counseling in West Point.
The CMSD officers were given a Mississippi Crisis Intervention Team pin after the week-long training.

Congratulations to CMSD Board of Trustees President Robert E. Smith Sr. on being honored as the first African-American mayor of the city of Columbus. He will receive the honor at the inaugural Legacy and Leadership Gala on Friday evening. Smith was elected in 2006 and served until 2021.

A reminder that CMSD Pre-K registration ends today.

The Columbus Municipal School District Pre-K enrollment registration is open and will conclude on February 19th. You can access the application on the CMSD website, www.columbuscityschools.org or scan the QR code.
