Thank you to everyone who attended the "Meet the Coach" event at Columbus High this past weekend.
Members of the CMSD Board of Trustees and city council members were also there to cheer on Coach Morgan.

Stokes Beard Elementary 4th graders were recognized at a Bridge Crossing Awards Day event on Monday morning.
Thank you to all of the parents and family members who came out to support their student.

Meet the Coach is tomorrow from 2-5 PM at Columbus High.

There will be food trucks and family activities.

Columbus High School student-athletes were recognized for their contributions to their team, along with region and state-wide recognitions, during the annual CHS Athletic Banquet.
The event was held at the Trotter Convention Center on Thursday evening.
Michael Hood Jr. was named Falcon of the Year.
Kamryn Coats was named Lady Falcon of the Year.

The Columbus Municipal School District celebrated its retirees on Thursday.
Thank you for your years of service and dedication to the students of CMSD!

The Lowndes County Board of Supervisors presented a resolution to the Columbus High Boys Basketball team for their 5A State Championship.
Coach Phillip Morris accepted the honor from Lowndes County Supervisor Jeff Smith.
Thank you to the board for recognizing our student-athletes and to Supervisor Smith for his efforts with the resolution.

Mothers and students enjoy cookies at a "Cookies with Mom" event at Sale Elementary on Friday morning.
Thank you to all of the moms and grandmothers who attended today's event!
We would also like to thank Columbus Mayor Stephen Jones and his wife, Stephanie, for attending and speaking.

Congratulations to CMSD Superintendent Dr. Craig Chapman and Columbus Success Academy Principal Dr. Darrell Jones on graduating from Mississippi State University's Doctoral Program!

This morning, Jayden Williams signed to play soccer and track and field for Blue Mountain Christian University.
His family, coaches, and teammates were there to cheer him on.

The Columbus Municipal School District Board of Trustees honored students for achievement at its meeting on May 11th.
Hunt Intermediate School students who participated in the Region V - Mississippi Science & Engineering Fair, the Get Ready to Run program, and the Presidential AI Challenge were recognized.
Columbus Middle School and Columbus High School thespian students were recognized for winning awards in the Secondary Performing Arts Festival, the Mississippi Junior Thespian Conference, and the Mississippi Thespian Conference.

Don't forget about Meet the Coach this Saturday at Columbus High from 2-5 PM. There will be food trucks and family-friendly activities. We hope to see you there!

CMSD Superintendent Dr. Craig Chapman attended today's groundbreaking ceremony for Parkview.
This will be a residential development next to the Roger Short Soccer Complex.
The City of Columbus and the Columbus Redevelopment Authority hosted the event.
CMSD played a role in the development because the 16-acre site sits on 16th Section land.

Stokes Beard Elementary recently collected goods for the victims of a recent apartment fire in East Columbus. Thank you to everyone that donated!

This is School Nurse Day. We thank our school nurses for all the love and care they pour into our students, ensuring they feel their best so they can learn.

Due to predicted severe weather in the area, the Columbus Municipal School District will dismiss the elementary schools and Hunt Intermediate at 1:30 PM. Columbus Middle and Columbus High schools will dismiss at 2:30 PM today (May 6, 2026).

The "No Crumbs" tour rolled into Fairview Elementary this morning.
4th graders were celebrated before taking state tests.
Thank you to Columbus Police Chief Joseph Daughtry and his officers for cheering on our students, along with CMSD Trustee Dr. Cynthia Brown.
We appreciate all of the support shown to our students! The community and our staff have brought energy and excitement to the halls of CMSD this week.
