COLUMBUS, Miss. (CMSD) This past week, seven Columbus High School students earned the honor of competing at the International Thespian Festival in Bloomington, Indiana.
ITF is a world-wide educational theatre competition that also includes hands-on workshops and discussions with theatrical professionals in a variety of areas, college audition and scholarship opportunities, and award-winning performances.
CHS students participated in workshops on acting techniques, costume design, fabric creation, several different dance styles, stage combat, improvisation, sign language, character creation, audition preparation, stage management, and career exploration with Disney Live Entertainment.
Students Easton Sime and Deyonte Lanier received a total of 11 college audition callbacks. Sime received two college acceptance letters and a scholarship offer. All students were able to have discussions about their potential prospect with the 41 colleges and universities in attendance.
Sime also received a Superior score for his Solo Monologue performance, making him only the second CHS student to ever receive this honor at ITF.
