COLUMBUS, Miss. (CMSD) - A Columbus Municipal School District teacher and several students are recognized for their work in the classroom.
The Columbus Lowndes Chamber of Commerce hosted its 2025-2026 Education Awards Program on the Mississippi University for Women campus on Tuesday morning, inside the Nissan Auditorium.
Stokes-Beard Elementary teacher CasSandra Hall was awarded the Elementary Educator of the Year award by the Chamber.
The third-grade math teacher has been at Stokes-Beard Elementary for two years. However, she’s been an educator for 19 years. Currently, Hall is celebrating her 15th year with CMSD.
9th grader LaRae Brown, 10th grader Zyla Harris, 11th grader Brian Bolton, and 12th grader Carissa Jenkins were all recognized for having the highest GPA in their grade.
Kelsey Jordan was awarded a corporate scholarship from former CMSD Board of Trustees member Dr. Jo Shumake.
Columbus High School senior Kamyra Hughes won the Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle Outstanding Senior Scholarship of $1,000.
