COLUMBUS, Miss. (CMSD) - Hunt Intermediate School is making a run to physical fitness and new PE Equipment.
The school is one of six in the state to be awarded $5,000 from BlueCross BlueShield of Mississippi. The money will be used to enhance physical education equipment.
90 Hunt students loaded onto buses last month to participate in BlueCross BlueShield of Mississippi’s “Get Ready to Run Kids’ One-Mile Fun Run.”
Hunt was designated as a Small Category Winner for the event.
45 schools across the state spent weeks preparing for the challenge. Hunt implemented a physical education curriculum developed by BlueCross.
Students learned about various topics during the courses, including goal setting, nutrition, and hydration.
The goal of the program is to encourage healthy lifestyles among students and to accomplish goals.
The 13th annual event was held in Pearl last month.
