Columbus Light and Water and the Tennessee Valley Authority presented Stokes Beard Elementary with two grants totaling $15,000. Stokes Beard Principal Tanesha Jennings said the money will go toward SEL (social and emotional learning) and physical activities for students. The goal is to use resources to get our students active and moving while taking care of their social and emotional needs. Thank you so much to Columbus Light and Water and TVA for giving back to CMSD. Dr. Jennings said CLW not only donated a grant, but has also played an integral part throughout the school year with our students.
"We were very blessed to partner with Columbus Light & Water to support student achievement by exposing students and parents to the intricacies of energy and water development," Dr. Jennings said. "Through this partnership CLW provided STEM activities awareness of specific careers in the light and water industry, as well as being an active stakeholder in our school and community council to develop strategies that would improve student attendance and academic performance."
