Mrs. Yvonne B. Cox and her husband Pastor Tommy L. Cox have lived in Columbus for over 25 years. She is a lifetime professional educator and learner, who believes in educational excellence for all children. She has a sincere desire to preserve and improve the quality of education in the Columbus Municipal School District. A retired Director – Office of Special Services (Special Education, Gifted Education and 504 Services) and current Independent Educational Consultant with a lifetime of educational teaching and administrative experiences in both general education and special education on the local and state level.
She is a proud alumnus … successfully completed educational degree status to obtain a Bachelor’s in Special Education (Jackson State University), Master’s and an Educational Specialist in Administration and Supervision (Mississippi State University).
Serving on the CMSD Board of Trustee has provided her an opportunity to give back to the district that has given so much to her. A district where her son excelled and she was given the cherished opportunities to work with students with special needs as a teacher and in the administrative capacity. She has faith that when the District demonstrates exemplary standards in education, all stakeholders throughout the community will share the benefits.
Appointed to the Board of Trustees in February 2018. She believes it is imperative that all community leaders work together to provide opportunities for our children to get the best “Public Education” in order to live in our public diverse culture. Whereas, our children will be prepared to join the modern work force and live comfortably in our society.
