Telisa C. Young is a native of Columbus, Mississippi and a graduate from R.S. Caldwell High School. After high school, she attended the Mississippi State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing as well as a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Mississippi University for Women. She later obtained a master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Workforce Development, an area which she is also pursuing her doctorate.
“I have a personal interest in preserving and improving the quality of education in our community. It is evident that an education grounded in excellence improves and quality of life for its citizens. I believe in the value of a diverse premiere public education for current and future students.”
Telisa believes with her 20 years of expertise and knowledge in public service will give her the opportunity to serve CMSD in a greater capacity. She has served as an adjunct instructor at East Mississippi Community College, on the Staff Advisory Council at Mississippi State University and Director of Housing at Mississippi University for Women. Telisa believes her knowledge and skills acquired while working at our local colleges and universities coupled with the ability to develop policies, guidelines, and interpret laws on a federal, state, and local level will allow her to make a great contribution to Columbus Municipal School District.
