Accelerated Reader (AR) was put into place this semester to motivate and increase the desire to read at Sale Elementary School. The AR program was developed by a concerned parent, just like you, who wanted to boost her children's academic performance. The program has been so successful in increasing students' reading level that it now being used in over 45,000 schools. AR is designed around a system of goals and recognition that students find naturally motivating. Some of these are:
- Students like using the computer
- Immediate reinforcement
- Straight- forward test and frequent opportunities remove the "fear of failure"
Students select and read books they really enjoy.For more information on this reading program, visit the Sale Media Center or e-mail Mrs. Ellis, Sale's Media Specialist.
