PDNPJ
Columbus School District's commitment to professional development is now on the cutting edge with our new Professional Development in your Pajamas (PDNPJ) web-based initiative. Employees can now step into the future and have their professional development designed to meet specific needs or take courses toward a national technology certification. These online courses are available anytime and anywhere to fit the demands of everyone's schedule.
CEU Credit: The number of hours completed within PDNPJ courses is tabulated at the end of each school year. 1 CEU is given for every 10 hours of completed coursework.
Teacher Academy
The Columbus School District is proud of their professional development program designed to raise student achievement though quality instruction. This program is called Teacher Academy. The Teacher Academies are conducted by a cadre of professional development facilitators. The trainings are offered to CSD faculty during off-contract times. There must be at least 7 participants for each workshop in order for the workshop to be presented.
CEU Credit: Attendance at any of the CSD Teacher Academy trainings up to or exceeding five hours makes a participant eligible to apply for at least .5 CEUs. Participant hours will be tabulated at the end of each school year.

Mississippi e-Learning for Educators
The E-Learning for Educators Initiative is funded by a U.S. Department of Education Ready to Teach Grant involving eight states (AL, DE, KY, MS, MO, NH, PA, and WV). The central goal of the initiative is to establish an effective and sustainable model of online professional development that will help address state-wide teacher quality needs and have an impact on student achievement.
Mississippi E-Learning for Educators is a collaboration between the Mississippi Department of Education and Mississippi Public Broadcasting. This initiative provides Mississippi educators with quality professional development opportunities designed to address content knowledge and the skills required to improve student performance.
Mississippi E-Learning for Educators provides high-quality, research-based, online professional development facilitated by exemplary Mississippi educators. Additionally, the Education Development Center (EDC) and Boston College are providing support in the areas of implementation and evaluation.
Online learning can build capacity for technology integration and help school districts meet the challenge of providing effective professional development for teachers and administrators. In addition, vibrant, interactive communities of educators can be built online and have significant effects on classroom teacher practice.
Courses last for seven weeks and emphasize theory-to-practice applications. Course work includes online discussions, reflection, readings, and projects. Course participants receive a certificate of participation and/or CEU credits (for eligible participants).
