The goal of the Columbus Municipal School District Wellness Policy is to ensure that our students possess the knowledge and skills necessary to make nutritious food choices and choose enjoyable physical activities for a lifetime.

What is Mitchell Elementary doing to support the Wellness Policy?

Encourages parents and teachers to send HEALTHY Snacks such as fruit, baked chip or water to school.

Established a Walking Club for Students & Staff

 

Implemented a Chef-4-the-Day Program where Kindergarten and First graders work with MUW Culinary Arts students to create healthy snacks!!

Establish a School Health Council that addresses all aspects of a coordinated school health program.

Schedule recess before lunch times to allow increased food consumption, decreasing plate waste, and improve cafeteria behavior.
