COLUMBUS MAGNET SCHOOLS
LOTTERY 2013 PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is pleased to
announce the opening of this year’s lottery enrollment period for Columbus
Magnet Schools for the 2012-2013 school year. The
application window officially OPENS on
Monday, February 4, 2013 through
Monday, March 4, 2013.
The Columbus Magnet
Schools LOTTERY 2013 APPLICATION (DOWNLOAD)
and NEWSLETTER will be sent to
parents of students in Grades Kindergarten through Fourth on Friday, February 1, 2013. For

MUST be submitted in person at the

The DEADLINE for submitting lottery
applications is Monday, March 4, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. The
application will also be available at www.columbuscityschools.org.
The
Columbus Magnet School Lottery will be conducted at Brandon Central Services
Center on Friday, March 22, 2013.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
Columbus Municipal School District is pleased to accept MAGNET SCHOOLS
APPLICATIONS (DOWNLOAD) from parents of students who reside within
the attendance zones for our school district. For this year’s lottery, parents
who have a child or children who currently attend a Columbus Magnet
School in grades Pre-Kindergarten
through Fourth and are satisfied with his or her placement, you DO NOT need to submit a lottery
application. Your child will automatically have a seat in his or her current
Magnet School for next year.
HOWEVER, parents who meet ANY of the criteria listed BELOW are asked to submit a
Magnet School Application (DOWNLOAD)
to place your child in a Columbus
Magnet School for next school year. Parents SHOULD SUBMIT a Magnet
School Lottery Application for this year’s LOTTERY IF:
v You wish to apply for
the PRE-KINDERGARTEN program; parents must complete a Magnet School
Lottery Application and submit enrollment information to Brandon Central
Services Center no later than Monday,
March 4, 2013.
Your child must be FOUR years old on
or before September 1, 2013, to be eligible for the Pre-Kindergarten Program.
After completing the enrollment process, parents who wish to enroll their child
in the Pre-Kindergarten Program must BRING
their child to Brandon Central Services to participate in PRE-K TESTING on ONE of the following dates:
§ Tuesday, March 5, 2013 (4:00 P.M. –
6:30 P.M.)
§ Wednesday, March 6, 2013 (7:30 A.M.
– 10:00 A.M.)
v Your child will enter
KINDERGARTEN next year. Your child
must be FIVE years old on or before September
1, 2013 to enroll in Kindergarten.
v Your child is NEW to
the Columbus Municipal School District. Your child is considered a NEW student
if he or she DOES NOT currently attend Columbus Schools.
v Your child CURRENTLY
ATTENDS Columbus Magnet Schools in Pre-Kindergarten through Fourth Grade and you wish to APPLY to
a DIFFERENT Magnet School.
ENROLLMENT
INFORMATION
To enroll a NEW student including Pre-Kindergarten
and Kindergarten students for Columbus Magnet Schools, parents must submit a lottery
application and BRING the following
information with them to central office
to APPLY for a seat:
o
A certified copy of
your child’s birth certificate
o
An up-to-date copy of
your child’s Immunization Compliance Form (Form 121)
o
Two proofs of
residency indicating that both the child and parent reside in the Columbus
School District. These proofs may include: Mortgage/lease agreement, electric,
gas, or telephone bill (land-line only), driver’s license, or voter’s
registration card. The name and address must be the same on BOTH documents.
