The library offers flexible access between these times. Students are permitted to visit the library before school and during the day for check out or research purposes with permission from their teachers and a signed planner. Students have specific times when their teacher(s) bring them to the library for check out.
All students have access to the Library Media Center. The Lee LMC operates both a fixed and a flexible schedule to meet the specific needs of faculty and students. Students are scheduled to visit the library for check out on an every other week rotation. Academic and discovery teachers bring students to the library for this rotation. Seventh grade students come one week on assigned days, followed by the eight grade students the next week. A monthly calendar is posted that outlines the library schedule.
At Lee Middle School we are dedicated to improving reading comprehension and developing life-long readers. All students are encouraged to check out books, read every day and participate in Every Student Reads @ Lunch program. Additionally, students who meet their assigned AR goals are recognized and rewarded by the librarians and their team teachers. We encourage you, as a family, to share books together and motivate your student to spend a minimum of 30 minutes reading for pleasure at home.
During fourth period, the lunch period, teachers read aloud to their students for approximately 15 minutes each day. Books are selected from a suggested reading list. Each student listens and enjoys two novels each nine weeks. This program has been very successful in introducing our students to the genre of Young Adult Literature and exposing them to a variety of authors and titles. Students take an AR test upon completion on each book.
The LMC has an outstanding collection of young adult fiction and a balanced non-fiction collection totaling about 16,000 volumes. Teachers have access to a varied collection of videotapes, DVD’s, and audiotapes. In addition we have the following electronic resources:
Electronic Card Catalogue: using the Caspr Library World Silver Edition.

World Book Encyclopedia
The Magnolia Teen Book Award is an Award given each year to recognize and honor outstanding books chosen annually by students at Lee Middle School. This project’s purpose is to guide students to new novels and to stimulate, promote and encourage reading.
