Seventh Grade Required Courses |

| Career Discovery |
Career Discovery is designed to provide a variety of experiences and activities which promote self-awareness, career exploration, and educational planning related to the students educational and occupational plans. It focuses on the awareness of career choices and pathways to achieve individual career goals. |
| English | English consists of the study of basic grammar and the development of writing skills. Emphasis is placed on the use of literature as a model for good writing. Students read novels to develop reading comprehension skills along with writing skills. |
| Integrated Science | This course emphasizes four major strands: Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science and Science skills. Throughout the teaching process, safety skills, scientific method processes, measuring, use of scientific and technological equipment, current events, environmental issues and hands-on activities will be emphasized. |
| Mathematics | General mathematics and Pre-Algebra are offered. General mathematics is a course for mastery of mathematics skills. Pre-Algebra is a course designed to prepare students for Algebra I. Pre-requisites required for Pre-Algebra. One course required. |
| World Cultures History | Seventh grade history emphasizes world history and geography from 500 A.D. to 1750 A.D., in particular the social, cultural, and technological changes which occurred during this period. |

| Computer Discovery | Computer Discovery provides fundamental skills in the operation of microcomputers. Real world applications in word processing, keyboarding, graphics, database, telecommunications, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing are emphasized. Students receive a carnegie unit upon successful completion of this course. |
| English | English consists of the study of composition, spelling, listening, reading, oral communication, and grammar with an emphasis on effective application of these skills. Literature will be used to reinforce concepts which develop reading, thinking, and writing skills, and foster an appreciation for the written language. Strong emphasis is place on independent reading. |
| Science | Science emphasizes four major strands: Life Science, Earth Science, Physical Science, and Science skills. Throughout the teaching process, safety skills, scientific method processes, measuring using scientific equipment, current events, environmental issues, and hands-on activities will be emphasized. |
| Mathematics | Pre-Algebra, Transition to Algebra and Algebra I are offered. Pre-Algebra is a course designed to prepare students for success in Algebra I. Algebra I covers topics in advanced equations, graphing, number theory, and problem-solving and is available for those students who have been successful in Pre-Algebra. One course required. |
| American History | This is the student's first major course in American History. United States history to 1877 emphasizes events and great movements that contributed to the building of the United States of America. Emphasis is placed on major events which have occurred in the past and problems which Americans have solved. |
