Crossroads is a
comprehensive support program targeting a group of students from Lee
Middle School. The goal of the project is to provide a safe and
enriching environment for students outside of regular school hours.
Students receive small group instruction after school by
highly-qualified teachers and become members of the Boys and Girls
Club of Columbus. In addition to the programming that takes place
during the academic year, Crossroads offers a four week summer
program for participants. The project addresses the following
student needs: academic remediation and enrichment, leadership and
personal development skills, cultural and artistic enrichment,
health, and recreation. This effort is being made possible through a
$1 million grant from the Mississippi Department of Education Office
of Innovation and School Improvement. |
