Self-Contained
The self-contained Special Education program is designed for students with significant cognitive and physical disabilities. This program allows students to achieve their maximum potential and to master objectives as stated in their Individualized Education Plans. They learn skills in self-help and daily living, fine and gross motor development, language and communication, socialization, and academics. Small group and one-on-one instruction is tailored to each child’s individual needs. Informal and formal assessments are used frequently to monitor the student’s progress. Students interact in the general education environment during art, theatre, music, movement, physical education, and school-wide activities. They gain skills to better function on a daily basis in their community.
