Jason D. Spears is a native of Philadelphia, Mississippi. He is a graduate of Neshoba Central High School. After high school, he attended the University of Mississippi where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Managerial Finance. In 2005, Mr. Spears and his wife, Paige, moved to Columbus to establish a financial planning practice.
Mr. Spears states “I chose to serve on the CMSD Board of Trustees mainly because I know what a good education can do for a person’s future. Looking back over my life, I know many people sacrificed to ensure I had a quality education and this is my mission for the children of the City of Columbus”.
Outside of his duties as a member of the CMSD Board of Trustees, Mr. Spears operates JDS Wealth Strategies. He is the proud father of three sons, Barrett, Pearson, and Henry. Mr. Spears is a long-time member of the Columbus Kiwanis Club as well as a Trustee for the Louisiana-Mississippi-West Tennessee District of Kiwanis International based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mr. Spears was first appointed to the Columbus Municipal School Board in March 2012. He was reappointed to his second, five-year term by the Columbus City Council in February 2017.
