Currie Jean Brewer Fisher was born and raised in Columbus. Mrs. Fisher is a 1968 graduate of R. E. Hunt High School. She and her husband, Johnny W. Fisher, have been married for forty-two years and are the proud parents of a daughter, Currie Jonniecka, a son, Jaja Khary, and one grandchild, Blaise Victoria. Mr. Fisher is instructor of Criminal Justice at East Mississippi Community College’s Mayhew campus.
Fisher and her husband, Johnny, returned to Columbus after her retirement in New Jersey where she worked for 18 years with the Delaware River Port Authority in Camden, N.J. Mrs. Fisher is an independent business owner of Fisher Enterprises, a consulting firm specializing in office set-up, computer applications and workflow processing. The choice to return to her hometown was in keeping with a commitment both she and her husband made to give back to the unique city of Columbus, MS. She is currently serving as Administrative Coordinator for her church family, United Christian Baptist and its Child Development Center.
One of Mrs. Fisher’s greatest obligations is to diligently serve and advocate on behalf of the 4,000 plus students, their skilled administrators, instructors, and the stakeholders of the Columbus Municipal School District as a Trustee.
